Fashion Colloquium 2020: Call for Abstracts

Fashion Colloquium 2020: Call for Abstracts

Date 25 January, 2020
Time 00:00
Location Jaipur, India

Fashion Colloquium 2020, is the launch of Third series of Fashion Colloquia recognizing the importance of a ‘Responsible’ future. It will be hosted by the ARCH College of Design & Business in Jaipur. ARCH College of Design & Business, Jaipur, India (known formerly as the ARCH Academy of Design) was established in the year 2000 with a vision to engage the natural potential of an individual through Design education, and ‘empower’ them to ‘evolve’, through the spirit of holistic ‘co-creation’, enabled by positive thought and action.

Following the forerunning events, the Fashion Colloquia in Jaipur will bring forward themes with particular relevance to the specific location. It will allow varied different sets of contributions - from a broad selection of people from academia, media and practice - to be added and explored, within a responsible and interdisciplinary frame and context in order to invest in a shared & sustainable future for fashion.

Theme: Heritage… Stories of Change …Our Shared Future

The Stories of our past have evolved from our rich heritage and culture and have shaped our present lives. The quest of the human mind to know the unknown is the lead for the creation of our future. While design is all about the unpredictable emerging from the known, there is a constant desire to explore. In this quest of life, stories play a great role. While the present is an outcome of the stories of our past; the future aspires for new stories to be written for our meaningful existence of a shared future.

The Colloquia at Jaipur, India in January 2020 will provide a forum for discussions, debate and interaction on how essential and integral it is for us to protect and preserve the colors and threads of our rich material culture and the unique stories they tell us. Narratives and Researches will be brought by experts who will bring together the rich variegated forms of storytelling to build a new shared future.

Join hands with us if you believe that stories from our heritage and Indigenous knowledge systems from across the planet could open new ways of thinking and we bring meaningful conversation and dialogue for transformation.

We welcome contributions related to the following sub-themes:

Myth to Meaning - Narratives Towards Sustainable Futures

Explores legends or folklore surrounding textile heritage, indigenous crafts & methodologies that hold the potential to stir new perspectives into the world of fashion.

Disruption & Innovation - Academia & Industry

New Technologies & New Paradigms - Stories of Transformation

Invites stories that trigger creative, disruptive and conscious fashion and design practices by applying technological developments combined with ideation and speculation.

Change Makers - New Fashion Business Models
