The Fashion Professorship explores and develops critical theories and practices of making, wearing and relating to fashion. In doing so, the Fashion Professorship aims to contribute to practicing alternative and solidary systems with more agency for human beings in precarious positions and more care for all living beings.
Ties that Bind
On Tuesday 21 May from 10:00 - 18:00h, the symposium Ties that Bind will take place in the Rembrandt Theatre in Arnhem. A dynamic event that will address several themes related to the State of Fashion Biennale 2024 | Ties that Bind, such as shame & sustainability, dismantling tradition and the complexity of transparancy - from raw materials to garment.
The day will consist of an explanation of the exhibition Ties that Bind and themes by the curators Rachel Dedman and Louise Bennetts and co-curators of this edition, (panel) discussions, guided tours, workshops, critical interventions by participants of the MA Critical Fashion Practices at ArtEZ, presentations by the BA Fashion Design at ArtEZ and conclude with networking drinks.
Location: Rembrandt Theatre (main location State of Fashion 2024 | Ties that Bind). Velperplein 10, 6811 AS, Arnhem.
The Ties that Bind symposium is a collaboration between State of Fashion, ArtEZ University of the Arts and NewTexEco.
