The Fashion Professorship aims to rethink the cracks in the fashion system and the role that fashion plays – and could potentially play – in relation to urgent social, cultural, environmental and political developments in contemporary society. We envision an alternative and more engaged future of fashion in which we do more justice to fashion’s human dimension. Through research, design and critical thinking, we analyse and develop alternative approaches, systems, vocabularies and strategies. In doing so, we aim to activate the power of fashion to reimagine future bodies, future materials and future makers to contribute to resilient futures and inclusive societies.
The Linen Project | Expo NEUS X MODE Sustainable Fashion 025
21 September, 2019
Tweede Walstraat 106, Nijmegen
The Linen Project has been invited to take part in NEUS x MODE, an exhibition focused on sustainable fashion practices in the 025 region. The exhibition is an initiative by Duurzame Mode 025 (Sustainable Fashion 025), a collaborative effort between the cities of Arnhem (026) and Nijmegen (024).
The Linen Project is a multidisciplinary research project about reactivating the economic viability and human value of local flax cultivation and small-scale linen production. The exhibition provides a glimpse into the results of our 2019 growing season; the beautiful raw materials, the dynamic natural processes and the enthusiastic participants who have made it all possible. The flax fibres are fresh from the field!
