Fashion Tales 2020

Fashion Tales 2020 - Politics through the wardrobes

Date 11 June, 2020
Time 00:00
Location Milan

The third edition of the International Conference Fashion Tales will be hosted by Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan from June 11 to June 13 2020. This edition of Fashion Tales is called Politics through the wardrobes which aims to provide an international discussion to promote, share and discuss the political nature of fashion.

Fashion Tales 2020 will address controversial features that are constitutive elements of the very structure of fashion, such as Culture vs. Commerce, Sustainability vs. Capitalism, Exclusion vs. Inclusion, Political Dressing, Geo-politics of Fashion, Politics of Authenticity, Labour, Gender, Privacy and Data Security, Fashion and Costume, Fashion and Architecture, Fashion and the City and Fashion and the Media.

Lately, the politics of dress has become a matter of interest for media debates and fashion scholars, but to what extent does it affect the way we define and conceptualize fashion?  Due to the novel effects of digitalization and the new agenda defined by activistic movements, brands, manufacturing industries, and magazines they consider the environmental and social challenges as the main issues to be addressed globally, and therefore showing the deeply political nature of fashion.
